Declining quality of digital cameras: Pt.1 Exposing the price gougers

By admin · Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Imagine if you turned on the radio and half the radio stations were gone, and someone was trying to sell you a radio for twice the price to recieve the missing stations? Well this is what happened to Canon photography enthusiasts. They’ve discontinued their best cameras, and many retailers are taking people for a ride by stealing their money, asking for well above list price for those cameras.
Some examples. Take a look at the Canon A650IS, the last in a line of Canon’s best and most popular cameras, with a flip and twist LCD. This was the only one to come with IS and have a 6X lens.
Stopping by Canon’s web site you’ll see it’s suggested retail (ie list) price is $349.99. Yet if you want one, you’ll have to pay almost double that, such as what Wall Street Photo wants, at $775.99.
Watch the video to see more examples and you’ll be outraged. Clearly something needs to be done, but our politicians are too busy protecting the wealthy from the law, the same laws that if we break, we get arrested.

If there is no …
If there is no demand for the product at double the list price; then the seller will be forced to lower their price. Obviously they haven’t had to do that yet. There is absolutely nothing illegal about this activity. If this same “Wall Street Photo” company put these cameras on eBay and they sold for $700; would that be price gouging? Heck no, that’d be capitalism and consumerism, and that’s what makes America great.

Happens all the …
Happens all the time on Amazon and Ebay but no one is that stupid to buy them!
