to my knowledge the best and popular digital camera is sony. the performance is good and the price is also reasonable. i do have sony cyber shot digital camera and sony handy cam. both are performing good. and the price is around 1300ADE.(United Arab Hiram) in the indian currency it is about 18,000 rupees. (As i am an indian)if others means cannon.

In what market? Compact, or SLR? Canon and Nikon are both good performers. Sony makes a lot of popular point-and-shoot cameras but I don’t think their professional line holds up to the rest of the market (plus, lens availability might be difficult).
Probably, if you like photography but are on a budget, get a Canon SX120IS or SX20IS, they have pro features like manual modes.
