Buying a Digital Camera Online
Recently, I bought a Digital Camera online from http://www.gkvale.com. The cost of the Camera was around Rs. 4,777. I bought it online as it is convenient, saves time & the transaction was secure.
I would like to document the buying process.
First I went to lot of comparison Shopping Search Engines. Some of them were compareindia , naaptol, tolmol , pricesbolo etc.,
Be careful buying digital cameras with prices that seem too cheap to be true. While this certainly isn’t the case of every low price retailer, some companies will bait you in with a low-priced camera, only to tantalize you with ‘bargain’ package deals that may contain substandard or closeout memory, batteries, camera cases, or the like.
These dealers may lose money if they just sell the digital camera at their rock bottom price, but by selling a package deal they can profit. Thus, you may try ordering just the camera, they may apply a pressure sales tactic, and if you do not purchase the entire package or an extended warranty, suddenly the digital camera is on backorder and will be ‘available at a later time’.
Always shop around and only buy equipment from trustworthy businesses that you know will be around later in case of problems with your purchase. And this tip is not to say that all package deals are bad – just make sure to purchase only what you need.
I narrowed down to a Digital Camera manufactured by Samsung i.e., Samsung D-760 .The MRP mentioned was Rs. 8,990.00 .
Features
8.1 mega pixels
3x optical zoom
Self Portrait
2.4″ Intelligent LCD brightness
Face Detection AF & AE
11 Scene Modes
DIS(Digital Image Stabilization) function
Function Description & Photo Help Guide
Then I went to many Indian online stores like ebay.in , indiaplaza.in, JJmehta.com etc., Finally I found a tempting offer at http://www.gkvale.com . The Samsung D-760 was available for a Special Price: Rs. 4,777.00 : A Whopping 46% discount on the MRP.

Buying a digital camera online?
I want to buy a new digital camera, and in the past I’ve always bought them straight from whichever store, like FutureShop. I just go, pick the one I want, and pay for it.
Lately, though, I’ve been browsing online to see what’s available, and the prices on some of the sites online are quite a lot better than instore. And I don’t mean e-bay or anything.
I’ve been looking at nextag.ca – is this a good portal site?
IS it really economical to buy online? Or is it safer to buy instore?
Try ebay

Yes, it is.
There are a couple of major online photo stores – like B&H or BeachCamera. They seem to be quite good – the selection is great and prices. I don’t know where you are coming from, but for me in California, I don’t have to pay sales tax buying from these guys.
The only problem is that you cannot hold the camera in your hands before buying it.
But you can always try the camera in store, then buy it online.
Also, make sure you read the return policy carefully and you are OK with their terms.

llya1725 is 100% correct. Don’t foget shipping charges. Another store that’s been around a long time is Adorama and also Abe’s of Maine. You’ll find all of these stores in any issue of I think it’s called now Popular Photography & Imaging. My last purchase of a Fugi Camera went through Amazon.com but the actual store that sent camera was Beach Camera in Edison, NJ
