How do you know if a digital camera on Amazon is refurbished?
I want to buy this:
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-Digital-Green-Accessory/dp/B0028SJ6U2/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1262234146&sr=8-11
seems too good to be true?
Its being sold by Cameta Camera in NY. By law if a product is refurbished it must say that its refurbished. Some unscrupulous dealers will of course ignore the law.
NY camera stores are known for selling "gray market products". There are reputable dealers in NY but I dont know if Cameta Camera is one. I suspect at this price this is a gray market camera which means if you need warranty service it will have to be shipped overseas for service. Canon service centers in the US wont repair this under warranty. Usually these gray market dealers try to upgrade you to their own extended warranty at an additional charge and then you would ship your camera to them for repair.
I bought a gray market camera about 8 years ago. The US model at that time was $1100 and the gray market version with the extended warranty and many accessories was $600. It still works fine and I never needed warranty repair.
You have to decide if the savings are worth the risk. You could also contact Cameta to check on the product warranty. Ask if the camera has a USA warranty or an International warranty. International means gray market. Below is a link to the Cameta website contact page.

There is no way to find out that thing. I would recommend you buy the camera and its accessores from the shop which is near your home or City. Because there you buy the camera by looking carefully.
And moreover you can get at this price from any shop. Try to avoid these sites for this. If you don’t have the time then its if you buy from these sites.

If their product is refurbished, they will show clearly on product title like this one.

Price of Canon PowerShot SD1200is only is just $149 so $199 for that promotion package is not too good to be true.

A few years ago, I know someone who bought a camera from Cameta through ebay and she was happy with her purchase. The camera was either refurbished or used was stated as that on the ebay page when she was considering a the purchase.
The linked page you provided has this excerpt on it:
“Technical Details
KIT INCLUDES 9 PRODUCTS — All Brand New Items with all Manufacturer-supplied Accessories + Full USA Warranties:”
If you want to double check what deals you can get on that camera. I provided 3 links below to websites of photo dealers that can have some good deals.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Since the same camera is available directly from Canon (on Amazon.com) for $149.99, I don’t see these inexpensive generic accessories for only $50 more making this deal "too good to be true".
Cameta is a very reliable seller who clearly identifies refurbished equipment. I know of pros who buy from Cameta with confidence.
If the camera case, extra generic battery, etc suit your needs, I’d recommend getting the deal. Otherwise, you can do pretty well getting the extras you need later.
